Officially, the Cuneo Lung Cancer
Study Group (CuLCaSG) was founded in Cuneo, an alpine town of
northwest Italy (in January 20, 1994).
An informal lung cancer group, however, is active since 1982 at the "A.Carle"
Hospital of Chest Diseases, thanks to the work of two thoracic oncologists, the
doctors G. Buccheri and
D. Ferrigno...
Mission The CuLCaSG group is a nonprofit organization made up by doctors, nurses, and other health care personnel. It is auxiliary to the local bodies of the Italian Health Service (the Cuneo Health System) and has three main objectives... Founders The group was launched in January 20, 1994. An informal lung cancer group, however, has been active at the "A. Carle" Hospital for Chest Diseases since 1982... The Scientific Secretary Gianfranco Buccheri, MD, is presently the Scientific Secretary of the group. He is mainly responsible for the CuLCaSG scientific production. Dr. Buccheri is a Thoracic Oncology Consultant at the S. Croce and Carle Hospital (Cuneo)...
Scientific Achievements We investigates primary malignancy of the lung, posing questions on different clinical aspects of the diagnosis and treatment. The main areas of interest are tumor markers, pre-surgical staging of non-small cell lung cancer, chemotherapy of the inoperable disease, psychological issues surrounding the illness, and prognostic evaluation...
